A Survey on the Satisfaction and Needs of RN-BSN students

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate satisfaction and needs of the RN-BSN students. The subjects were consisted of 178 RN-BSN students in 3 universities. The data were collected conveniently by self reporting questionnaires given to the students from March to April, 2000. The instrument for this study was Jeong¡¯s(1984) educational need tool. The data were analyzes by SPSS/WIN 7.5 program using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation coefficient. The results of this study were as follows: 1.The mean age of students was 26.70(58.8%)and mean duration of clinical experiences of students was 51.9 months. 2.The negative relationship between educational satisfaction and duration of clinical experience was statistically very highly significant(r=-.459,p=0.000). The relationship of duration of clinical experience and hope of further education was statistically highly significant(r=-.247,p=0.004). 3.The factors contributing to the problem of RN-BSN program were financial problem, curriculum, management, change of student, deficit of profession, vague of nursing concepts and problem of nursing research. 4.Prerequisite cultural studies include English or psychology, sports, computer. Major studies include advanced adult nursing, basic nursing science, advanced psychiatric nursing and nursing management.
